Who:
rockstarwarbler and
justbeingaqueen
What: You're my angel
Where: Intensive Care Unit, Mount Sinai Hospital
When: Wednesday night
Rating: PG
Five hours, twenty three minutes and eight... nine... ten seconds since Andrew and the Intensivist and Oncologist had taken Kurt off the respirator. There had been a whole team of doctors and nurses on standby with the crash cart, but after a few assisted breaths of a manual ventilator to encourage the inhalation through his mouth and nose, Kurt actually started to take breaths alone with just the aid of oxygen via a mask. He was being closely monitored, and was still hooked up to cardiac stablisers for his heart, but so far, he was fighting it like a fucking boss.
Blaine hadn't left his side. He had been there for the whole process when he finally found the balls to tell Andrew he was ready for this. Meaning, he wasn't really ready, but he knew he had to face it for Kurt's sake. There had been a scary moment there where Kurt's blood pressure dropped and his temperature spiked a little, but again, they just kept on with the plan and eventually after he seemed to be maintaining his breathing alone, the staff filtered out to give Blaine some privacy with his husband. He was aware the team were still very close and if anything happened, they would be back in the blink of an eye, but he appreciated being left alone to ease the sensation that they were waiting for Kurt to fail this. Without them there watching, it gave Blaine a little confidence that Kurt might turn this corner and be okay.
( And time might have been ticking away, but it wasn't enough to convince Blaine that Kurt was going to be okay... )
