Blaine was being a little more obedient these days. When Kurt suggested his husband go home for sleep, food, and a shower, it only took a bit of coaxing and urging as opposed to being met with an all-out brick wall protest. Blaine just always looked tired and weak right now, so any success Kurt had in getting him home to rest was the equivalent of winning a gold medal as far as he was concerned. Things were looking up too. Kurt had been transferred from the ICU to the HDU the day before when his pulmonary stats had stayed consistent for whatever period of time the policy manual stated. It meant he wasn't just restricted to family members as visitors, even if the visiting hours were still less than the rest of the hospital.
But this was one of those rare times no one was here, and whilst it gave him a chance to just lie there and feel weak and sick initially without putting up any fronts, now that he couldn't sleep, he was starting to feel lonely and isolated. He was on bed rest, so he couldn't go anywhere. He wasn't even allowed up for the bathroom. Normally he would fight that passionately because he hated being idle, but the attempt to sit up and move a little with the physio therapist the day before had exhausted him and left him in a lot of pain. It was still a fighting battle.
He lay there staring out the window with the covers pulled up to his chest. If he could sleep, it would be okay, but it wasn't coming to him right now. These were the times he hated the most, because without distractions, his mind went to places he didn't want it to be. Like the fact he kept dreaming about his mom right now or the fact he was pretty sure the light he kept coming back to in his memory wasn't just a nice piece of interior decorating. Had he really come that close to checking out? He really, really did not want to think about that.
[ooc: I'm cool with multiple threads/taggers, as always - just assume one scene comes after the other. It's not like he's going anywhere!]
